British Values

The Department for Education have reinforced the need for schools to ‘actively promote’ the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. This ensures young people understand the importance of respect and leave school fully prepared for life in modern Britain.

Across the Arreton and Oakfield Federation our way of working, policies and procedures are all consistent with the Fundamental British Values defined by the Government as:

Democracy –

How citizens can influence decision-making through their elected representatives or their own lawful actions

The Rule of Law –

The equal treatment of everyone using the same framework of rules and regulations

Individual Liberty –

The respect for our freedoms as individuals and responsibilities they imply plus understanding of the circumstances where freedoms may be restricted for the good of all.

Mutual Respect and Tolerance for those of different faiths and beliefs –

Treating each other as we would hope we would be treated ourselves across the Federation you will develop an understanding of these values through work in lessons, enrichment opportunities and Federation events. Examples are outlined below:

St George’s Nursery & Pre School

St George’s Nursery & Pre School is a privately run childcare setting located on the grounds of Arreton St George’s CE (Aided) Primary School. They run a breakfast club and after school club Monday to Friday, please contact them directly with any queries.
